1. Serve finger food.

If you can, keep it simple with hand held food. This makes eating while partying easier for everyone. Think platters of dips, crackers, mini sandwiches and anything canapé style. This means you can enjoy the party more as you won’t need to think about running out of cutlery.

2. Have food and drinks ready.

Be ready for your guests with some food and drinks already on tables. We all know kids are always hungry so make it easier for yourself and have some nibbles for your guests to graze on ready when the party begins.

3. Paper plates and cups.

Keep it simple with the clean up and have some paper plates and cups for your party this way no one needs to spend hours cleaning up after the party has ended. You can buy some that match your theme. Greatest part about them is they can be recycled.

4. Have rubbish bins available.

To help ensure your clean up is as easy as possible have some rubbish bins or bags around for your guests this ensures they aren’t piling the rubbish up on the cake table.

5. Activities.

Be sure to keep the kids entertained with a few different activities. It doesn’t need to be anything fancy but it is god to have some things for the kids to do. Choose activities that suit the ages of the kids at the party. It could be a bubble station, a painting station or choose things that match to your theme. Keep it simple and easy to do.

6. Preplan your music.

Music at parties is extremely easy these days with online streaming but take some time the days before the party to create your own playlist with music everyone will enjoy.

7. Take home favours.

Have some favours for your guests to take home with them. This doesn’t have to be fancy it could just be whatever they have created at the activities station or some of the birthday cake. You can get favour bags that match your theme as well.

8. To have a theme or not.

You don’t have to have a theme but if you do, let your kids pick a theme as it will make the party even more exciting and special to them. Try to focus on decorations and the cake that will fit your theme this keeps it simple for the day.

9. Have a photo booth.

This can be just a polaroid camera with a backdrop and a few fun props or a full hired photo booth. You don’t need it to be something that will blow your party budget but it is a great idea to create a fun activity for your guests of all ages to do.

10. Size doesn’t matter.

It doesn’t matter how big or small your party is as long as your kids have fun. You don’t need to make it a huge party, it can just be a few friends and family over for cake. Whatever fits your budget and busy schedule.
